These are obviously more modern but I think they are fun nonetheless. When I purchased the Stengel Durocher die cut counter display I was told that it was issued to store owners in New York in the fall of 1951. The Fernando item was produced in Mexico in 1981. I miss Fernando. Although I am always proud of my roots, being a Mexican American was especially meaningful that summer.

"Watching Fernando Valenzuela force himself into a Los Angeles Dodgers uniform is something like seeing Kate Smith struggling to fit into a pair of Brooke Shields' designer jeans." - Sportswriter H.G. Reza in the San Francisco Chronicle (1981)

Default Fantastic Thread

 photo 1HelmarCigs435X1475Inch_zps33e453d7.jpg

This would have to be one of the best threads I've ever seen on Net54. Above are two signs I'll contribute...that Helmar could be for sale if anyone wants to PM me...wonkaticket and Je.rry Spillm@n are the two top posters I think...By the time I got to Birds of America and Naval Flags I figured it was over and wokaticket won.

I posted these two photos below previously in March 2012, link above...

Allen & Ginter "World's Champions" clearly is the "World's Champion" of this thread!...I just posted a story on the 2013 National and gave my raves about this sign......should have been the lit up center piece of the booth...they could have charged admission......which was in the Leland's booth, link below...Sovereign Cigarettes..."Good Tobacco Never Hurt Anyone"...there's a slogan they can use again!

killer signs...

Brad Green
Lefty Grove....I have a LS Tim Callahan sign in same condition...same format...1919 Yale football player...

JollyRoger
Marshall
Cycle Cigarettes....is that a sign? cig pack?...let me know if you sell that (after work picks up though)

rsst206
Colgan's Chips die cut with the hand...killer....first one I've ever seen

American Caramel "Three strikes are out"...what are the dimensions? Is that a poster? a card? ...it's great

Default great thread

I must concur with another poster--one of the best threads ever. Simply amazing stuff. I bought "Tobacco Advertising, the Great Seduction," but was disappointed by the small section on posters (great book otherwise).

I am fascinated with 1900-1910 era posters, and am interested in buying if anyone is selling Piedmont/Sweet Cap/Hassan/Murad/Sovereign or related posters (I don't mean to hijack the thread). If so, please PM me.
(Also, if anyone knows of an impending auction with vintage posters and related memorabilia, can someone post this info?).
Brian

Amazing thread, and beautiful items everyone. I loved seeing all of this stuff, thank you.

Not as mind blowing as most of the items posted, but since I didn't see one I'll add this into the mix.

Default Turkey Red door push

Great thread, congrats to everyone on preserving these items.

I have quite a few Turkey Red related items, but I've only seen this one once - it's a door-push, made of solid metal and colored with very thick porcelain. It measures about 18 x 3 1/4.

Default nice GQ carton and packs Leon!

It's my favorite carton even without the card connection although there's a buffalo bill paperboard carton that might give it competition. I need a GQ pack to accompany my carton and advertising so if you have a duplicate you want to sell NOW or in the future - I'm quite interested...........

Didn't I get my (original) GQ pack from you, 10+ yrs ago? Have only seen one other and a board member has it. I sold it to him about 5 yrs ago and got it off of ebay. He paid a hefty price for it too.....as, if memory serves me, I did too on my original one. One of the only packs I have seen with the date on the inside of it.
