Currently sort of in transition.
I've been a bicycle mechanic since 2001, Hydraulics before that. Stay at home dad since 2010 and doing the bike stuff part time. Started looking for something better paying when daughter #2 arrived, went looking for a job and found client number 1 - So I'm statrting some independent mechanical/product design. Not quite sure how it will work out yet, but so far so good. Steve B |

Re-retired.
30 years in the education finance business, moved to the Eastern Sierras, got bored, worked 4 months for the USPS, that was enough of that. Grow vegetables, build the occasional bamboo fly rod, chase a few fish. Keith

Baseball writer covering the Pirates entire organization from the lowest level of the minors on up. Proof of how low in the system I go is this three part series I just posted http://www.piratesprospects.com/2013...-to-watch.html Fun articles to write, especially talking to people who watched/scouted them all year

I own an antiques and collectibles shop for the past year...before that I owned a video store for 27 years. Netflix, Redbox and the internet finally did me in, but I am proud to say that I outlasted every mom and pop, Hollywood, and almost all of the Blockbuster stores in my town.

Previous life..
Retired once in 2003, did a life sentence with the Vancouver Police Dept. Took six months off and then went back to work as an Investigator for a computer software company for eight years. Retired again about a year ago, and trying hard to keep it that way. Smart enough to keep my wife working, but not smart enough to come up with a Rose RC at an affordable price yet.

Lawyer
Unfortunely I wanted to go to law school but then figured out I didn't want to be an attorney. Loved law school, the practice of law is trying at times. Should have been a teacher/professor. |

I had the TOUGHEST job of anyone on here.
I at one time owned 5 WOMAN'S Shoe stores. Sold the last store and retired at 55 eight years ago. Couldn't take it any longer!! In truth I burned out years before, just took me a while to get out. Anyone want to argue they have a tougher job?? :>) No Al Bundy jokes please, I have heard them all, and beside he just worked at a store. I OWNED them! Fred |

When I was doing industrial hydraulics we fixed stuff in a few really "nice" places.
Two sewage treatment plants. One mixed the semi treated water with wood chips to make fertilizer. The other had filter presses to press the water out of the treated solids. Not all that bad, the smell went away within a few blocks. And a place that processed fish remnants into mink food. So take all the bits of old fish from wherever, plus the bits nobody wanted from places doing the filleting. Grind, mix with water, press out some water, freeze into blocks. The entire place was cold, wet, and smelled of bad fish. The worst part was that you always got a little bit of something on your clothes somewhere. So the smell stayed with you for a few days. Not consistent, but maybe a couple times a day for the rest of the week you's smell fish. if there was a yuck face icon I'd use a couple of them. I did get to see a rare sight - A seagull not being able to keep some bit of fish down. There were a few others that were hot or otherwise unpleasant, but nothing close to that. Steve B |
