This one is so goofy you don't even know where to begin. The seller found a postcard picturing nine people, so he decided to make up any story he wanted. It could be nine factory workers, or nine friends at a party...so why not just say it's the Black Sox. That might work. |

Barry, someone will take the bait...look at the two closed auctions that I posted. He made $80 on two 50 cent postcards. |

Dan- that's shameful, because if somebody buys that postcard it proves he doesn't even know who the Black Sox are. |

1962 was the year the Rolling Stones formed. Now a photo of the band from '62- that would be valuable. |

That postcard has "British Made" stamped on the back. It looks like it could be part of the crew of the Antarctic explorer "Endurance". |

The description is still silly, with the suggestion that some Europeans may have pretended to be Chicago White Sox for a post card. While London women were having Tupperware Parties in the livingroom, the men went to to smoking room and, for game, posed as famous American baseball teams. Evidently, the winner of the game was the team that looked least like the 1919 Chicago White Sox. |

today that game still is played, much like the seller described it in europe about 100 years ago. 9 men dress up in baseball uniforms and pretend to be major league ball players. people come from all over the world to watch them, they are called the chicago cubs. |

Barry, I never engage these guys in email wars because you never know when they are going to mess with your auctions....best to just let them know that you are on to their scam. I'm guessing I got into his conscience and he changed the auction or I wasn't the only person to email him. |

Dan- You are correct, because I think this guy is unstable. Just the way he abruptly changed his tune when he relisted it shows that he has trouble discerning the truth. |

Good one Dennis. They had a similar group in the 1970s, called the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Hired from USC, head coach John McKay one once remarked (in seriousness) that some of the Buccaneers wouldn't make his USC teams. |

Obviously the sale was a ruse, as the two postcards depict completely different people. If it's plausible that he thought one was the White Sox, it's not plausible that he thought they were both the White Sox. A 5 year old could look at those pictures and tell you they aren't the same team of players. |

have to respect the guy for re-listing them and changing the description to reflect his own second thoughts.... It looks quite apparent to me that he's just a bit off kilter and not dishonest.......Which doesn't bode well for me because I can recognize it so well:-) |

"I stand by my photos. If you don't like them do not bid it is that simple. These photos have been around for nearly a ninty years and have always been controversial. I stand by them money back what I say. Do You? If Net54 wants a fight I will be more than happy to give it to them. I am an attorney, and I will meet them and you in court, if you try to interfere with my sales. I am not bothering you. You won't bully me. You experts try to bully people to protect your turf on high priced junk. I am selling low priced excellent goods that is just as real as yours and you don't like it. That has also been going on for ninty years or more. Too bad. See you in court if necessary. I plan on relisting as original if you do not like it then you can tell your mother if you want to." |

"And what did McKay say when asked about his team's execution?" McKay said he was in favor of it.
I don't think I would have responded via email either.. he seems very combative but at the same time open to negotiations..
