The N172 is an addition to my set.....and will be "liberated" from its plastic environment.

The N162 is an upgrade to my favorite set.

Those GAI holders are nasty little bastards to open. I took a piece of shrapnel right in the middle of my right glasses lens when I cracked one open; would have done some major damage without protection.

I appreciate the warning....I wear safety glasses whenever I crack open these plastics.
And, you are absolutely right, the GAI plastics are tougher to crack and splinter easier
than the other plastics.

I hope other members are reading this and heeding your warning.

members, here can pool our "wealth" in sportscards and buy out Steinbrenner....ha !

Very cool postcard. I know there are other teams with the same format. This is the Detroit one.

Many more players in the foldout than I can scan at one time....

Great postcard Joe, I can't say I've seen it before (at least not for the Tigers). I like the letter itself as well, the Tigers were a "sure bet" during those years, at least in the American League.

Thanks, tbob. I used to own about 50 T207s, but I just decided it would be too tough to ever complete the set so I sold almost all of what I had accumulated. I kept only two cards -- Simon because I love the image and Covington because it has a blank back. That was last year. Then I came across this McKechnie and figured maybe I will try to put the set together again someday, and I knew I'd regret passing on the McKechnie if I did. Won it for a very reasonable opening bid on ebay.

That is a neat postcard, Joe. The first four panels use the same images as the Dietsche postcards. Does anyone know if the bottom two images are used on the much rarer 1908 and 1909 Dietsche sets?

from my "Our Home Team" Detroit postcard... posted a little earlier in this thread.

The postcard pulls out and has 8 panels of players on one side and six on the back side of the pullout (too big to scan all at once, one long row of panels).

So I did a bunch of scans and cut and pasted them together to show all of the poses.


I think they are the same as the Dietsche postcards (not sure though).

And the cobby pose is identical to Jeff's HM Taylor Postcard posted earlier in the thread.

Joe- I had a NY Giants fold out postcard in one of my previous auctions, but would have to dig it up. It was quite a few years ago, but it does exist.

Edited to add I just found it in my Nov 2003 auction, and it was from 1907. Sold for $1547 at that time.

Yes, a bunch of collectors I know have multiples of players or poses they like, other wise known as "Koteles style collecting". I have 8 images of Cobb leaning on his bat and I would buy more of them if I could find any.
