Hypothetical question for all you card graders out there. Since paper loss seems to knock a card down to Good condition at best, when does chipping stop being chipping and when does it start being paper loss? |

i think the term chipping should only be used if a tiny amount of paper flakes off the card around the edges(border) of the card, and is hard to notice on first inspection. if you see it right away it's paper loss. |

To me, there is no distiction between chipping and paper loss. The Joss is a perfect example. Technically, it's chipping, but it is still paper loss. It's kind of like being a little pregnant. You either are, or you aren't. |

It's all paper loss. I used to have an e93 Matty with even more chipping than what the Joss has, but occurred in the background area, so if you weren't familiar with the set, you would think the chipping was clouds. |

My understanding of "chipping" in baseball card language refers to the slight paper loss around the corners and edges due to wear. Anything other than that probably should be classified as "paper loss" |
