Which auctions house sold off the Baseball Magazine
archives? And more specifically; the date?

I think it is Christie's 9/1996.

Christie's East Baseball Magazine Archives - 09/20/96

The photos from the auction are easy to identify, as Christie's stuck a circular Christie's/BBM holograph to the back of each.

Issues from 1909 to 1918 can be searched on-line at

While it's not a substitute for the real magazine, it provides an opporunity to read the magazines without causing harm to the original fragile copies, which have a tremendous aesthetic collectible value.

These articles are fantastic - nice to be able to search on your favorite players and read contemporary accounts. I'm especially enjoying reading the fan letters - found a couple where fans were supporting Ed Reulbach. Also found an article about Cal McVey being voted a pension - wow!

I'm new to Net54, I had read your 2009 question regarding trying to locate a September 1996 Christie's catalog (Archives of the original BB magazine) I too am trying to locate a copy of this catalog, any suggestions?
