So who won what so far? I won a few lots..most notably the E90-1's Jackson and Sweeney and the C56 hockey set. Thankkfully I sold a bunch of stuff so they still owe me money but that may change tonight.

I went 0 for 9. A TRIPLE STRIKE-OUT!!

I was even able to go a bit deeper into the wallet this time due to the good (for me) euro - dollar rate. Still didn't help.

I would be very interested in the E98 Young card from the Graded "E" Card Collection of Lot 834 and the E98 Tinker and Evers from the Graded "E" Card Collection of Lot 1193 if the winners are reading this board and wanted to help defray their cost of buying those lots. perhaps someone like David Bryan might have won them for the purpose of breaking them up on ebay and selling them on ebay which would be a great alternative for those of us who have no interest in collecting all the cards from other sets which were included (hope, hope)!

I won nothing, bid on nothing, and unless some of the questions that have been raised surrounding Mastro's practices, disclosures, and relationships with the "outside conservator" are answered, I don't expect to do so in the future. I lost all the lots I couldn't really afford, and won the single lot that I really, really wanted, and for a fair price. Greg, my collection just increased in value by a factor of 28, so now you can't make fun of me

PSAJD - keep in mind that all the auctions have problems, but if you don't participate you lose out on opportunities to pick up cool items. Your best bet is to continue trying to change things in a diplomatic manner.

I'm not sure what the reference to the 2000 auction results has to do with the link to the Donlin in the current auction, but I did learn something by reading the lot description (make sure you put your hip waders on if you venture in yourself. It's deep in there ).

Kevin the Donlin went for the price that John quoted in the 2000 august auction as part of the Harris collection.He basically means whoever owned it lost alot of money on it in a short time

but I think if enough ants disapprove, the gorilla will change. For instance, I'm very hesitant to bid on expensive photos now, whereas I used to never question an auction description. Same goes for un-slabbed cards - I pass on them usually unless I have a clear scan, even if it's one I really want. But I still bid on other things. So the complaints have at least cost the auction houses some of my bids, and I still get to win things that I trust. If the auction houses want more of my money, they can start providing more security on the "boycotted" items. I think it will eventually happen, but I could be wrong.

Trimmed cards in slabs? Say it ain't so. Y'all are just kidding, right? In all seriousness do the rumors suggest that the owner trimmed the cards or that some third party who purchased them raw and then slabbed them did? Apologize for my lack of knowledge about the collection, I have heard of it obviously but don't know much else.

among the other lots I was wathcing..I thought the Zeenut Thrope @16k and the Wagner D322 @12k sold fairly strong....ie, "super-retail"

Hello...I am knew to this forum. I have been reading your posts for the last couple of weeks. It seems that many of you have really nice vintage card collections. I also think that as a group, you drive the price of many of Mastro lots. Do some of you get together and not bid against each other? This might be a way to get a few items you like cheaper, and all would win. What are your thoughts?

Where are you guys getting the idea that Harris collection t206s are dropping preciptously in value? Why don't you post something you actually know about.
You conveniently overlook the Speaker and Tinker portrait Harris cards that sold last night for near 10K apiece! These cards sold respectively for 5k and 3.7k in the 8/2000 auction. Doesn't look like that rumors of trimming hurt their resale.
The Donlin card has dropped in price simply because at the end of the day it is a common player and was vastly overpriced to begin with. That card has been sold before multiple times since the Harris auction and the consignor of it in the Mastro auction didn't lose 8k and may have made money.

Peace be unto you. No one said that the reason the Donlin dropped $8K in 4 years was because it was trimmed; that was just a hypothesis that may have some basis in fact. Similarly, no one said that the consignor in this auction took an $8K bath. Rather, TBob said that if he had taken an $8K bath, he'd be sleeping in the park. So would I, if my wife was feeling lenient that day.

Not even you, who seem to know so much more about it than anyone else (are you the unhappy consignor?), can deny that the Donlin card is now selling for 50% of what it did then. That's just the fact. Chill out and find your happy place. Merry Christmas!

I was able to take down the SGC-graded N28 Allen & Ginter set from the Egan collection (look for my dupes to be posted soon).

I also won lot 1166, the huge collection of over 300 SGC-graded T206's. I'm sure some of those will make it out to board members too!!
