One of my favorite parts of Life is food. What is everyone eating for Christmas?
My family traditionally celebrates Xmas Eve. We are having a small gathering at my home. Ham is in the oven with a NYT glaze recipe that has a base of sour cherry preserves. Also trying a new sweet potato casserole with pecan crisp topping. Other fare includes tangerine-coconut-marshmallow ambrosia, funeral potatoes, mother in-law's homemade rolls, and a veggie side dish. Christmas treats for dessert. My family gathering is Dec 26, and that is always hor d'ourves. Wishing all of you Happy Holidays Sent from my SM-S926U using Tapatalk

Christmas dinner is a repeat of Thanksgiving with the Turkey and all the fixings.
However, breakfast is two types of casseroles with eggs, bacon, sausage, and whatever and then my favorite.....a French Toast Casserole. |

My wife and I will probably hit a movie letter in the day. Thanksgiving and Christmas Day movie trips used to be a regular thing for us and we revived it on Thanksgiving. My sons and their families will head home to watch the Texans game.

We start Christmas Eve - smoked salmon, shrimp, multiple cheeses - brie, époisses, sharp cheddar, swiss, gruyère along with multiple types of crackers and bread.
Christmas - baked salmon, steamed asparagus with taragon wine sauce and mashed potatoes that I whip in a blender. New Years Eve - Chinese food for probably the last 30 years or so.

i do all the cooking in our house because I am way better at it than my wife. Christmas Eve, I made tacos then performed in a stand-up show called "Jokes For Jews" here in L.A. that I've done for several years. And yeah, I killed. Did a tight ten-minute set. Next night, I made a traditional Jewish Christmas meal: Chinese food.
I'm really looking forward to my New Years Eve menu: grilled lamb chops, Lyonnaise potatoes, some sort of veggie. My wife is back east visiting my daughter. I couldn't make the trip due to two broken feet. I'm still in a boot and really cannot walk much, so no trip for me. I have an amazing marinade recipe i got from my mother but my wife doesn't like lamb so I only make it when she's away.

I had my second Christmas dinner last night. It's always mostly finger food: deviled ham celery sticks, meatballs in BBQ grape jelly sauce, bacon wrapped water chestnuts with a spicy sweet sauce, stuffed portobello mushrooms with sage pork sausage & quinoa & cream cheese w/bourbon splash, lil smokies. Maybe a couple other items. In always looking for new hordourve recipes: taking suggestions.

Hope you heal up quickly. When I was 18, my friends dad fell off a ladder and broke both ankles 6 months before a big 50 mile boy scout hike at Philmont Scout Ranch. He went with us and walked so slowly. A small gaggle of us had to hit the trail 60-90 minutes earlier than the others to make it to our next location on time. As for food, they gave us ration portions. I was always starving. Sent from my SM-S926U using Tapatalk

Thanks, all. I put two regular shoes on today for the first time since Labor Day. Felt great.
The lamb was superb; my compliments to the chef. Happy New Year to all!
