Is this an early Willie Mays auto?

I know typically autos are on card fronts and it looks nothing like his modern auto but it does have similarities to his early auto and is found on the back of his 58 topps card.

Obviously the y and s look most different but wondering if this is something he may have transitioned through as he started signing more.

I would suggest you post this question in the "Autograph Forum" of the Net54 board...there is a current thread discussing early Willie Mays signatures going on over there right now.

I only see an autograph forum in the B/S/T. Since I’m not B’ing, S’ing or T’ing I don’t think this would be suitable there. Is the thread you’re referencing somewhere else?
