If you know the answer, you are disqualified, please do not post.
If you don't know the answer, without references just take a wild stab. Twentieth century leader in consecutive complete games, a record that will never be broken. Clues may be forthcoming.

When I think of complete games I think of Warren Spahn.
Not sure if he the consecutive “king” but he was a finisher

In one season during the streak he made 10 errors, but only 6 of them while he was the pitcher.
Ohtani is not the correct answer.

Not Babe Ruth, but this pitcher changed teams in the midst of the streak.

Jack Taylor had 187 consecutive complete games from 1901-1906 pitching for both St. Louis and Chicago. He was more than willing to fill in between starts at several positions accounting for the 4 errors at third base in a clue. In his career he started nearly 300 games and was relieved only 8 times. He has rolled over in his grave in Ohio several times watching this years postseason games. Jack is not in the Hall of Fame, but does have two baseball cards. Here's one of them. What's the other?
And if this thread taught you anything,
You don't know Jack but now you do ![]()

I had to really do some keyboard pecking to locate this image on the internet...the E107 of Jack Taylor. That consecutive complete game streak is something hard to believe.
Taylor had one heck of a 1902 season, track his stats down for that year if you have the chance. Another fun fact is that he completed 279 out of the 287 games he started in his career, and 5 of those 8 incomplete games came in his final MLB season in 1907! Great record. I had to look it up. Here are some more stats on him.
During his ten year career in the MLB, Taylor started 287 games and completed 279 of them, 20 of those via a shutout. So, to put this into perspective, when Jack Taylor started a game, he finished it 97% of the time. Last edited by Buythatcard; 10-24-2021 at 06:54 AM. |
