Has anyone out there run across one of the 1968 Topps cards 1967 All-Star Rookie cards that have the trophy in white? I vaguely remember seeing a few of these as a kid when they were actually new cards. I recently purchased this #45 Seaver version. Upon close inspection with a 10x jewelers loupe, it is clear that this card is not faded. It does look as if there was no yellow ink when the sheet was printed however. Anyone have any info on this?

If not faded, then missing color pass makes the second most amount of sense.

I concur with missing color pass-look how lifeless the color is.

If not faded, there should be other cards from the same sheet with the same missing color pass.

Nice find. I found a 63 Topps Mantle that I thought missed a pass but everyone said it was only faded. Then I found a second one just like it. Suppose they could have faded the same way independently of each other:

Sun faded. Probably left in the sun in a dealer showcase at some event or in a case lit with UV lights. You can even 'make' them yourself. There's a thread on the 'blue' 1958 Aaron somewhere around here.

I made the 58 Aaron thread and a few others on faded cards. As a error collector for over 35 years I have seen very few real missing color cards. EDIT: To add a pic of a real missing yellow card. This is actually a bad pic and the colors are much brighter in hand. Notice how the whole card still has that nice shiny new look and the faded cards in this thread all have that dead dull look to them. Last edited by bnorth; 08-09-2021 at 02:26 PM. |
