Hello All,
Does anyone know who the hockey player is or the name of the Hockey team that he played for. I cannot seem to find that uniform/crest anywhere. Thank you for all the valued input as always. Lucky. |

Also, like in this pic, it is possible goalies wore different sweaters compared to the rest of the team? http://habs100.blogspot.com/2008/07/...teers-two.html https://icehockey.fandom.com/wiki/19...ley_Cup_Finals I'm sure others with a lot more knowledge and information than me will know better. Good luck. ![]()

That style logo would have been used by a generic team of no major importance.
And, judging from the equipment including his gauntlets, goal pads and built-up one-side stick, the image is probably from the mid-1910s (possibly a bit earlier), and maybe as late as the very early-1920s. As far as goaltenders wearing a different jersey from his teammates, I've never seen this in any hockey images or have ever read about it occurring in my time collecting antique hockey. Is the photo a postcard? |

Thank you for your valued input.
The photo is indeed a postcard. There are 3 others of different players as well with the same unifom and logo. Looks like the sitting for the photo were taken at the same time as well. If indeed you are correct about the team being a generic one of no major importance, the question that arises is, why individual RPPC of more than one member of this hockey team if they were of no significance? Was this often the case? Thanks again. Lucky. |

If you take a look at these, you'll see similar examples including multiple players from a single team.
Regardless of the team or it's importance, they're a lot harder than team photo postcards (RPPC), and being that you have matched players, it's a nice group. I hope this helps. https://www.classicauctions.net/LotD...ntoryid=154717 *Edit I just noticed your postcard in the group. Last edited by Huysmans; 07-28-2021 at 03:12 PM. |
