What does "plate signed" mean?
NEVER MIND> GOOGLED IT
I've been wanting a nice set of rolling stones signatures. I came across quite a few lithographs on ebay that say they are plate signed? I am assuming they are not really signed. Am I correct? Not hand-signed.
Originally, artists often signed their names on the printing plate (in the plate), so the signature was printed as part of the graphics. For art prints, "hand signed" is the term you are looking for. Last edited by drcy; 11-18-2020 at 12:38 PM.
