I have enough to buy a
1976 Topps Walter Payton Rookie PSA 7 or a 1953 Satchel Paige card PSA 3 These are 2 of my favourite cards ...from a purely investment angle.. what would you buy? |

I would buy the Payton because of the higher grade and the popularity of the player.

Either should hold value, neither should increase or decrease dramatically. But the one you like the best.

I was going to say, Paige, but I just Googled it and didn't realize so many copies existed and were currently for sale. (I also would like to own this card)
Having said that, I agree with, bbcard1. Buy the one you like the best.

Generally speaking, most cards don't change in value a whole lot unless they are in demand, high profile, and/or relatively hard to find - which isn't true for either of these. A good example of an "investment" card would be a high grade Mantle Topps rookie. Get the one that you like best and don't worry about the investment aspect of it. |

Personally, I think the 1953 Paige is one of the most beautiful cards ever produced, so I wouldn't be satisfied with it in VG. For the money, you can Payton in much higher grade.
When all is said and done, I would try to save money and purchase the Paige in at least Ex+ condition. But, yes, pick whichever card you wish to stare at and contemplate for awhile... Scott |
