Default RELISTED W/ $5 OPENING BIDS - Hank Greenberg & Al Lopez Autos PSA/DNA

Here are a couple of 1938 Goudey reprints featuring autos of Hank Greenberg & Al Lopez. Each was recently certified thru PSA/DNA. Each card is a separate auction. I'm starting these off with a minimum bid of LESS THAN the cost of authentication.

Hank Greenberg
Full PSA/DNA Letter of Authenticity
Cert #AB06141
Minimum Bid $50 (the authentication fee alone is $75 not even including to/from shipping, insurance, etc.)
Shipping $4

Al Lopex
PSA/DNA COA
Cert #AB63120
Minimum bid $20 (the authentication fee alone is $35 not even including to/from shipping, insurance, etc.)
Shipping $3

Ends Wednesday, 27th 8:59 CST (Bids with a 9:00 time stamp or later will be void). If you need to see pics of the LOA or COA, just let me know. Thanks for looking and happy bidding.

OK, the cards didn't meet the minimum opening bids, so let's try this again, but this time a little different. Please read carefully. Bidding starts @ $5 card. The PSA/DNA authentication IS NOT included. At the end of the auction, winning bidder has the option of paying the authentication fee (which I will include the COAs with the card) or not paying the authentication fee (which I will remove the stickers, keep the COAs and just mail the card itself). Bidding ends this Saturday at 8:59pm CST (Bids with a 9:00 time stamp or later will be void). Good luck.

10 Greenberg

Just curious what the authentication would cost?

So even though they are already authenticated, you will keep the authentication (which would no longer have any practical value to you) out of spite because you aren't getting the prices you wanted? If I'm reading this wrong I apologize.

A friend of mine usually has PSA/DNA come out 2-3 times a year to authenticate for him. He opens it up to others and I had these (and other items) authenticated at that time. Some of the items I get a discount on, others I pay full price (Mantle, Williams, DiMaggio, etc). Anyway, I got a discount on the Greenberg and Lopez. Greenberg (normally $75 through PSA/DNA) was only $25 and Lopez (normally $35 through PSA/DNA was only $20). Since these were submitted in person, there were no additional costs involved (to/from shipping, insurance, etc.).

You are correct. However, I wouldn't call it out of spite. The authentication service cost money. I'm just asking to be compensated for what I paid for the authentication. Am I asking too much?

David,

Let me preface my comments with...I understand the rules of your auction and am still willing to bid on the item.

However, I think it's silly to keep the authentication to an item that you're selling as it then has no value to you but would likely have value to the buyer.

I should probably keep my mouth closed, b/c I don't care THAT much about the authentication....but as a friendly comment, I suspect that you'd ultimately get a higher price by including it in the auction.

Warm Wishes,
Scott

I tried that the first time, Scott. It didn't work. I was willing to sell a HOF autograph for only 2/3 of what it would normally cost just to authenticate. If you (or anybody else) has any HOF graded cards you want to sell for only 2/3 the cost of authentication, let me know

I had a PSA Carl Hubbell vintage autograph (his signature was a lot different in his later years on the show circuit) in my ebay store for $25 for months. Finally pulled it. What would that cost to get authenticated?

It's funny you mention Hubbell. I had many autographs that I authenticated for the purpose of re-sell or trade, and the one auto that didn't pass was Hubbell. I believe it is real because I got it from the same source as a lot of the other autos and I really don't think anybody is going to fake a Hubbell auto. Unfortunately, they still charge whether it passes or not. The Hubbell was $15 to authenticate. It's $30 if you send it to them.

this is a silly and petty auction and you're passing bad info. all the names in this thread can be authenticated for $13 or less if it's a card. no one should be paying $20 to authenticate an al lopez because his sig costs like $5. same for hubbell, or feller, or judy johnson, etc etc etc.

The cost of authentication fees is posted here. View them for yourself.

http://www.psacard.com/Fees/AutographCategory/baseball

Leon, as per the rules of not interfering with a BST listing (especially when it's to call me a liar and spread false information), please do something about this. Otherwise, if there are no repercussions of interferrng in a BST listing, I can assure you any future BST listings posted by Mr. Quan Nguyen will not end well for him.

The invoice is on my desk at work. It is for $245. I purchased another $40 in cards and the check was written for $285 to Howard Lau owner of Houston Sports Connection. I will post both the invoice and check on Monday to prove this guy a jackass.

Cards no longer for sale.

And jackass proven...

If PSA/DNA charges $75 to authenticate Greenberg's auto (which the authentication fees are posted right there on their website), how in the world do you think they're only going to do it for $13 and slab it too?

Next time, jackass, don't interfere in my threads spewing your ignorance.
