Help with 1889 Photo

Can someone tell me something about this as I do not collect cards. Is this considered a card or a photo. It is housed in a 5.5 by 8.75 cardboard frame surrounded by a mat with the picture size being 3 x 5. Cardboard frame has damage and the mat is torn on top right but photo is perfect.
I looked up the player and saw thEre was a similer old judge card but this is larger.



Any help and what is it worth. Thanks

The mount/folder is early 20th Century.

Might it be a Vermont Find. Per Scott's comment that would fit the timeframe.

Frame folders like that was a standard family photo style in the early 1900s. I have one of my grandmother. As noted, not period to the player image. My guess is someone simply stuck the photo in the frame folder.

I don't think the Vermont photos were sepia like that.

A question is if the photo itself is original.

If it's a modern reprint stuck in an old frame, very little.

Original 1889 photos would be affixed to a carboard mount. The early 1900s photos housed in those frames are usually loose paper prints slipped in. If it's a loose paper print slipped in, I would guess it's a modern reprint.

If it's a modern reprint it will likely have color dot print pattern under magnification.

As mentioned there are some newer but still vintage Goodwin photos that have turned up.. They aren't as valuable as the originals but still have some worth. It would be wise to bring these to a show or have them looked at by Jay Miller or Joe G.....either of them would know for sure. I would send one of them to them if they would be willing to take a look.
