I came across a few (what I think are) 1936 National Chicle Fine Pens. Are these thin paper stock, like a photo?
If they are mid grade or better, are they worth sending in to PSA? I have 7 of these and they are in fairly nice condition. Among them, Lefty Gomez and Earl Averill. Last edited by frankhardy; 11-08-2014 at 02:00 PM. |

Yes they are thin stock. As far as PSA submission goes, someone else would have to speak to that

I would call them thin cardboard/thick paper.

Here are the ones I was referring too. They are as thin as a photo. They are slick as well, like a photo. I would not call them cardboard at all. Can someone confirm since there seems to be a possible disagreement.
Also, are these worth grading? ![]() ![]() Last edited by frankhardy; 11-08-2014 at 03:06 PM. |

Yes those are Fine Pens. This is my Gomez.
![]() Not sure what it it would cost for them to be graded as they are larger than normal cards similar in size to 64 Topps Giants so not sure if they get charged the oversized rate.

Those look really nice! The Wide Pens and Fine Pens aren't particularly valuable cards. I would say if they grade out from PSA 5-7, they might be worth $20-40, maybe a bit more on a good day.

![]() ....three years ago I sold these two : almost $100 for the Averill and about $70 for the Gelbert.....because of their age and fragility and being over-sized ( and the big blank backs were an invitation to artists and stats-keepers ) anything over a ''5'' has very low population . ...tilt them into a strong light to check for hairline wrinkles ; I have a lot of these in what looks like NM but they come back as 4's. Good luck with them.. |
