A while back, I thought there was probably liitle hope of landing an authentic 1888 Goodwin Champions Beecher, so I did what I thought was the next best thing - I managed to get one of the 2012 Upper Deck Goodwin Champion Original Art cards. This one is #4 of 10 and signed by the artist, Ken Joudrey on the back of the card.
Well, a few months back, a skinned, low grade Beecher came up on eBay and I managed to win it. It went to immediately to SGC who verified its authenticity. I was thrilled to say the least. As a result of now having an authentic 1888 Goodwin Champions Beecher in my collection, I have the modern art card to sell. It can be yours for: PRICE IS NOW SOLD This is the final price drop on the card. Contact me via email at rgncubs@att.net Last edited by powderfinger; 08-03-2014 at 11:48 PM. Reason: Price Drop |

I know this isn't the point of the post, but can I see the 1888 card?
I didn't know much about either the 1888 or 2012 versions of this set so I did some research - looks like only 10 of each card was printed across the board in 2012 and I like the 2012 backs - I'm guessing the original backs were blank or ads. And here is a little bio I found that mentions Harriet Beecher Stowe: http://library.la84.org/SportsLibrar...FHSNv21n4a.pdf Good luck Ray - hope you get some takers. Here is the original Beecher prior to encapuation. The front is beautiful, the back...not so much. The original backs had checklists of the cards included in the set which consisted of Beecher, the only football card, baseball and other sports that were popular during the era. I took a chance on this one because I'd rather have a card graded AUT that is stripped with a very nice front than one with a numeric grade that looks like it was rung out like a washrag.
No takers yet on the 2012. I'm open to negotiation either on the price or the cards I want. Last edited by powderfinger; 06-29-2014 at 09:14 AM. |
