I picked up a bunch of older cards and need help identifying some of them.
I'm pretty much a 50's/60's card guy, so a bunch of these I admit I've never seen. Also any input on whether the 1888 Ryan (or any other cards) is a reprint. Thanks for your help! |

Most or all of them look like reprints. It's not certain though as your scans aren't too clear.
The G & B of Madden should be a tiny card, a fraction of the size of the Buchner, yet side by side they look to be the same. That is impossible. None of them have the right tones or proper resolution. Maybe a few of the strip cards are real, but I'm just not sure. |

Is the picture of the Allen & Ginter back suppose to be the back of the James Ryan card? If that is, then yeah that Jame Ryan card is definitely a fake. James Ryan was part of the Second Series A & G set (N29) that back is the first series (N28). The fact that his name isn't listed on the back is another dead giveaway. Still an interesting reprint though.

Nearly all of these look like artificially aged reprints.

In your first posting, only the group with Mathewson and Johnson (these cards would be W514 strip cards), the group with rows starting with Terry and Moore (these would be W512 strip cards), and the group that include Harris and Hafey (these would be 4-1 Exhibit cards that have been cut up) might possibly be authentic...better scans of these would help. I think all the others in your first post are likely reprints/fakes.
In your second post the Sisler is definitely not authentic (these did not come with blue print...they are Larry Fritsch reprints) but the Scott and the group with boxers could be authentic (they would be W512). Provide better scans of front/back of the Weaver (certainly looks fake, but would be a nice pickup if real). Brian |
