Perhaps it is the RC designation that is throwing people off? I know that's why I clicked on the link initially before realizing that he has earlier cards.

Yes he does have earlier cards but this is considered his rookie card by price listing

I would not mind owning a Nicklaus RC but this one just has me baffled. I know he has several in the 70's including the 1971 Barratt--issued a mere 10 years earlier and it may not even be his rookie at that. I dont know much about Golf or how the important/what factors the "rookie" designation but it seems to me that it is either just laziness or perhaps the first "mainstream" name. For whatever reason, a lot of the collecting community has bought off as this one as his "rookie"--just seems odd to me.

I guess it is up to each collector to decide their own truth.

There is no way I would consider this card to be Jack's rookie card. zero chance.

It is a cool card though.
