So, I just finished the book Satch, Dizzy and Rapid Robert by Tim Gay. When discussing the signing of Bob Feller in 1935, he stated "He (Slapnicka) wasn't the only scout to have gotten a heads up about Feller; the Class D Des Moines Demons and other organizations were lurking too." Des Moines was in the class "A" Western League in 1935.
He also states: "Cleveland was offering Bobby a minor league deal with Fargo Moorhead of the Class D Western League." One, the Western League was a class "A" league. Two, Fargo Moorhead was not in the Western League they were in the Northern League. Obvious mistakes like these makes you wonder what else is incorrect in the book. So what errors have you found in recent baseball books? |

I bet a lot of players were trying to convince their wives that a lot of what Jim Bouton wrote in Ball Four was inaccurate!
