Let me start off by saying - Im a card guy, not a memorabilia guy. I have a handful of autographed baseballs and those are plenty easy enough to handle, store and display.
Awhile back ago, I came into an unbelievable gift of a San Francisco Giants team-signed pennant. We've narrowed it down to about 1962. It is a red/orange felt pennant with numerous signatures including Willie Mays, Willie McCovey, Orlando Cepeda, Jack Sanford and others. The thing is - I have no idea what to do with it. I clearly do not want to thumbtack it against my wall. Im apprehensive about putting adhesive on the back and frame mounting it. What do I do? Should I bother to have the signatures authenticated? If so, what does PSA/SGC/Beckett do to encase? Pictures (just for grins) can be found here.... 1962 Giants Pennant And incidentally....any guesses on it's worth? To be clear - it is not for sale, but I wouldnt mind having a rough idea of what this might be valued at. Thanks all!!! Last edited by Section103; 11-26-2010 at 08:19 PM. |

Depends how much you want to spend....
You can spend a lot and do something as posted above. Or you can spend as little as $2.00 for a soft, clear plastic sleeve... and put the nails through the plastic (and not the pennant itself). Another cheap option is the rigid plastic sleeve. That would cost you about $3.50. If you value it a lot (and it seems that you do) you may want to invest in a real frame. I'm estimating your pennant is worth $250 - $300, so a nice custom frame job could easily cost you the same as what the pennant is worth. Here's a final option available on ebay... a nice pennant frame but not fancy. Still rather expensive at $100.... http://cgi.ebay.com/WINNING-STREAK-C...item5d2c4f8e83 |
