I have seen these listed in 1904 and 1906. It appears the American League (Blue Back) is 1904 and National League (Red Back) is from 1906 yet my SCD simply lists BOTH American League and National League as 1906. I guess its just symantics but is there a accepted rule of thumb?

The original assumption was that the AL was 1904 and NL was 1906. The general concensus these days is that both sets were issued in 1906. I have even seen the grading companies start to label the AL as 1906 now. |

It seems like quite a few sets were incorectly dated over the many years since they were issued. As more research is done the dating of these sets is updated. EX: 1916 Collins-McCarthy now 1917. The 1932 U.S. Caramel now 1933. I also heard that the 1895 N300 Mayo set may have been issued circa 1894. I believe most of these corrections have been made based on team changes for certain players in these sets.
