I guess I wasn't the only one who noticed the 1916 Zeenut Billy Southworth buried in a lot in the Huggins and Scott auction.
http://www.hugginsandscott.com/cgi-b...l?itemid=14061 So much for the notion that you need good marketing and hype to get top dollar for a card. I wonder if the opposite was true in this case. Maybe all the bidders thought the card would have to sell for much more if sold individually and marketed well. So they thought they were getting a bargain and kept bidding. I know it's a tough card, but it sold for three times more than the last Vance that I saw in an auction (though this lot obviously had a few more goodies thrown in). |
