Ummmm....Al Bundy, i really was not going to post anymore and then i got a bunch of e-mails......now what is going to happen is that one of the Wonka Playa Haters is going to copy that and then whine.......oh yeah like he got a bunch of e-mails......

The e-mails were from card dealers to people that just enjoy the board. One guy who posts here regularly basically called me out and said if you leave then you are a quitter and they have won. He stated you see Marshall it is not about you because they have done this to other people that have come on this board and not caved into their Chocolate Flying Eclair Peppermint Rim Corn Stalk Granpa Story Barbara Bush blue haired click and it is a click of about 10 to 15 folks.

I talk to dealers everyday who just laugh in hysterics at the comedy routine on here. They do not post nor will they ever because they are just buying and selling cards.

I do actually get along with several folks on this board so really to me it is no big deal in regards to the "Sweetness Click" and no matter what is said i do not get offended.

In regards to Peter Spaeth.......you are right in regards to your statement about children........wait right now there is a 5 year old child who juust got his law degree from Georgetown and he is saying......hmmmmmmm.......i wonder if i can really buy a T-205 Ty Cobb PSA 7 on here or not without my girlfriend knowing. WOW look at this board.......uhhh ohhhh i better roll cause here comes dad......Dad with hand on side, now what are you doing? 5 year old child......nothing dad i swear i was just studying for tommorrow afternoons court case because i am due in court by 10.

You'd be surprised at the language I use. And as to your conclusion that I am some kind of holy roller, nothing could be further from the truth. A lot of people would die laughing to think someone would even suggest it.

I do try not to swear on the board, but this is really getting out of hand.

J

ETA: Oh HELLLLLL no. HAHAHAHAHAAAA. Al. What a great great post. Seriously. Haiku. Dang. Now that makes my day.

ETA: Al, you are actually writing haiku's faster than I can edit posts to laugh at them. Now that's talent.

Marshall, I don't doubt you're getting email from the deranged chicken killer who talks to himself on his own super-sekrit chatboard, but you should know those don't count.

Oh Lordy Al. What the heck??? How do you come up with this stuff??

OK. Now we have Wonka for the Photoshop wizardry and Al blazing onto the scene as our haiku genius. Now we just need you two to collaborate on this and I'll end up dying from laughing and all the board lawyers will have to think up the legal liability theories for that one.

This is getting a little tiresome. The reason Marshall (hi Marshall) hasn't been banned is that he mostly just retaliates. But at this point I am getting close...

Marshall- could you just lay low for a while and try to add something positive to the forum, please? WE have talked and talked and I do get it...believe me I do. It's just that I don't want there to be a lot of angst and fighting every single time you start posting. It really is getting old quickly. Just talk about vintage baseball cards or find another place to hang out. ...best regards

ps...I could tell stories that would make your hair stand on end but this isn't the place to always do it....Folks don't care about who I hang out with or what I have done in my life, for the most part. They come here to talk about baseball cards...as this is a baseball card forum. I don't need a 12 paragraph diatribe either..I just need you to adhere to what the forum is about...or not post. thanks

Al,

Great haikus!

Perhaps you could start a new trend. Street gangs cross paths. Instead of knives and guns, they get together and trade vicious haikus. Sort of a cross between West Side Story and 8 Mile.

leon, I could say the same about you... but I would also mention that you are extremely loyal, and you are showing tremendous loyalty to your friends at Mastro. I don't think anything that happens with respect to Mastro is going to shake your faith in them, and that is absolutely your prerogative. At this point, there is enough information and obvious signs out there for anyone to make up their mind whether to continue to consign and/or bid with Mastro. Anyone who continues to do so certainly can't claim to have been caught by surprise. Good luck.

New (old?) auction house. They have purchased the assets of Mastro Auctions and will be carrying on the business

Leon....166 posts later we start talking about banning. Probably 75% of this thread had zero to do with baseball cards and somehow turned into a Dorskind bash or defend thread so i posted my thoughts.....and whoaaaaaa....gobstoppers everywhere. It's all good though. I understand the candy has finally melted all over you from the Wonka express bandwagon and Bretta corn oil express.

I'll not come back and talk to these such wonderful well rounded and thoughtful sophisticants, just charming oustanding citizens. They are juust so inspirational with all their wisdom and foresite. I'm sure right now the whole crew is calling Akatz so they can move to Skidmore and belittle and heckle college kids. Good luck folks and may all your hijacking thread dreams come true.
p.s. at least Finley is posting his thoughts now, CONGRATS!

You aligned yourself with Dorskind to provoke a fight. And then once in the fight you provoked, you articulated yourself really poorly. Nobody elected you to be the leader of people that disagree with some of the regulars on this Board. If you really got any emails from other current/former Net54'ers with similar complaints to yours, it is a shame that they emboldened you to think you were their chosen voice. There are better ways to make your opinions heard here than what you have chosen -- and worded more adequately might have brought some measure of sympathy or support.

In short, even if you had anything useful to add, you have burned any chance at ever being taken seriously.

Yeah i am gonna split Al....i like Leon and have always told him i respect his position on this board so it is best not to create such drama for him because he deals with enough whining about everything on this board. If he feels i am the root of the problem then i can live with that and move on. I'm not the laylow type i'll leave that to folks that go creep into the night.

As I see it there are essentially two options for the moderator,

1. We can permit Marshall and other of his ilk to post at their pleasure, and in return have a board with higher entertainment value but probably much less to do with vintage baseball cards, or

2. Prohibit such posts, the result being lower entertainment value and perhaps fewer site hits, but substantially more on-point vintage baseball card posts.

I liked this thread, and thought it was raising some useful points and discussing some important issues - important to the hobby, and important to the personalities who frequent this board, of which I am still a relative newbie.

And having been the moderator of several message boards, I understand Leon's challenges and am not the type of guy to criticize a moderator. It's a bitch of a job, impossible to please everyone, tireless and thankless, and not without tons of second-guessers. Leon is a good guy, and it's hard enough to moderate a message board without having guys like me yammering over your shoulder.

All that said, Marshall came into this thread like a bull in a china shop, just like he does in every other thread. The guy wrecks every thread he enters. If I'm not mistaken - and I don't think I am - Marshall's very first posts on this board were in defense of a dirtbag who was harassing the moderator. His second round were a bunch of sour grapes about grades. Since then, they've largely been storytelling about his, umm, noise.

He's absolutely useless to the content of the board, but beyond that, he's incapable of participating in an on-topic discussion, incapable of writing in understandable English, and incapable of understanding the basic concept of message board etiquette - you sit on the sidelines for a while, get the feel of a board, slowly and respectfully get your feet wet, and realize who the knowledgeable board elders (of which I am not one) are.

I dare say that Peter Chao and Adam J. Morraine stayed on-topic. Virtually all the time. Some may not have liked their approaches or the way they articulated their points, but their posts pertained to baseball cards - not to how much reefer they smoked, or to their sexual conquests, or to the clubs they wrecked, or their record deals. Neither Peter nor Adam - nor anyone else who has ever posted on this board - were disrespectful to the board's female poster and readers. Neither of them have ever posted anything on this board - stuff that will stay on the internet forever, by the way - that would shame this entire community.

Neither of them ever wrote anything that would result in my not being able to let my children read this board to learn about baseball cards.

It's as simple as that.

I walked away from this board for a week or two after the last debacle with this guy. After a while, I decided: why punish myself because of a guy like him? I LIKE it here. When this board is operating properly, I can learn things from it - and hopefully contribute something to it as well.

But if Marshall is allowed to come storming into every thread with his noise, then I'm allowed to write haikus.

-Al

I truly don't care about site hits. As anything else that has ever gone on, on this board, there is some moderation. It will continue that way. I don't think it's an "either or" situation. Just as there were 5 locked threads recently in order to get back to cards so will it go in the future. I have asked Marshall to talk about cards (*and really everyone else too) as that is what this forum is about. A little off topic keeps it from being stale but the focus really should be maintained. We will get back there. best regards
