I'm 37 and a journalist at Newsday on Long Island. Mostly do editing and page design but also write a little on the side.

I'm also an aspiring novelist, with two completed books that I'm trying to get published (no easy task). I actually need help with one of the books regarding a couple of small factual things related to baseball card collecting in the '80s. My two main characters collect cards (surprise!). They say to write what you know, right? Anyway, I'll start a new thread at some point to ask that question.

I am a retired Licensed Land Surveyor and currently a Trust Fund Punk living on a tropical archipelago in the mid-Pacific. The wife affectionately refers to our hometown as The Hellhole and wants to move back to British Columbia so my days in Honolulu maybe are numbered.

Collect primarily pre-1960s baseball cards. Am currently working on a T3 set. Collect Pacific art, too, mainly of Polynesian wahine. Also collect broken ribs at the Kyokushin dojo where I am presently working at a brown belt. I can crack-out a PSA slab with my bare hands (but only if it attacks me first).

Am 56-going-on-14, as befits my interests in baseball and babes. Gonna be 57 next month and there ain't a damn thing I can do about it.

Wife's a Brit who has taken time to understand and develop a liking to baseball and a tolerance to card collecting (she got me a T206 Young w/o glove for Christmas a few years ago).

Hey Sonny, I soloed on my 16th birthday, got private a year later, haven't flown any since my late 20s. Was a DJ, done all kinds of work, farm work, factory, masonry, steel, paving, newspaper writing, finally got through law school, taught a bit of college, got elected to state court district judge, and that's what I've been doing for 14 years.

When Walter Johnson's portrait T206 arrives from Ted Z in a few days I'll be 8 short of the 520 set. Got about a fourth of the way through T210 when I gave up, sold some so I could focus on series 6. First ML game was 1963, saw Mr. Musial play. Bought first cards in 1964, Topps. Was fascinated about how I could trade them for 1962 and 1963s with some friends. Discovered Bowmans in the mid 70s. Got my first T cards about 1985ish. Held a Wagner in my bare hand about 12 years ago, it was not slabbed.

Roll call again.
Just turned 53 (Ides of March, whatever an Ides is). Father of 5 wonderful children of which 3 will be in college next fall, hopefully not all out of state. Tar Heel in Wahoo country (Charlottesville). Very happily unmarried. That was not meant to be a knock on marriage, I enjoyed married life, but as William Wallce would say "FREEDOM" Still doing construction, will probably start a spec house soon. Originally a T206 collector, got sidetracked by T205s, now trying to finish both. I am around 450 on the T206s and about halfway on the T205s.

I wouldn't usually post, but I couldn't help myself being that I have the same birthday as T-Rex Ted. I'm an avid 24-year-old-low-grade-19th-century-collector from beautiful West Sonoma County currently taking some time off from studying Journalism (with a focus in sports journalism) at Manhattan College in "Da Bronx"- thus maintaining/prolonging my claim at being a "student."

Having personally experienced the "East Coast Bias" face to face for a few years in NYC, it is with great pleasure and the utmost sincerity that a say I actually get some form of satisfaction from taking the vintage cards, which usually originiate from the East Coast, out of the "Wrong" Coast's circulation. Sick, I know.

I love the San Francisco Giants, think that Barry Bonds is the greatest thing since sliced bread, and strongly beleive that anyone who disagrees with the latter deserves to be dragged in the street and shot- yeah, that's right, I said it. I also think that Frank K. Ward is the most knowledgeable and best-informed member on the Forum- and, no, it has nothing to do with the fact that he's also from Sonoma County.

Actually, I am surprised it took this many posts (120+) to find someone with the same Birthdate as mine.

They claim that in an elevator full of 25 people, the probability of any two of them having the same Birthdate

44 years old..live in southern Indiana with my wife of 18 years. She is tolerant of my hobby to the point where our home was built 9 years ago with a special room for my 'stuff'. My grace period has run out and we are now converting our spare bedroom into 'her room'

We are active in Keeshond rescue and currently have 8 dogs. One of "man's best friends" (not a rescue) once ate my 1933 Goudey Frankie Frisch.

I collect the Diamond Stars set & have some low grade HOF T206s. Would love to afford more.

I've spent over 20 years as a sportscaster--first as a play-by-play guy in the CBA, then onto reporting work in the Upper Midwest, out to the west coast and back to the central part of the country.

Thought the hobby needed some sort of daily news outlet so we launched SportsCollectorsDaily.com last year. It's been an education--lots of work but fun as well. Saw a couple of writers here--drop me a note!

39 year old patent lawyer living in Boulder, CO. Between undergraduate and law school spent seven years at USC (or "Southern Cal" if you listen to the national media) which I mention only out of euphoria over the basketball team's improbable success in this year's tourney. Happily married with two kids (9 and 5) and a third that should arrive from China later this year. The probability of any two people having the same birthday in a random sample is significantly greater than the probabliity of someone in that sample having your exact birthday. Assuming an equal distribution and ignoring leap years, the chance of someone having your birthday is 1/365. The chance of 1 or more people having your birthday out of a sample of 120 is 1-(364/365)^120, or about 28%. The formula for figuring if any two people have the same birthday is significantly more complicated, but comes out to about 99.99999998% for 120 people, or 62.7% for your example of 25 people in a elevator. I'm a 46-year-old newspaper reporter living in Monterey, California. I saw my first major league game in 1970 (Jay Johnstone hit a home run ... I thought he was Babe Ruth!) at the age of nine, and I've been hooked ever since. I collect type cards,1950-1953 Bowmans, 1956-57 Topps, Batter-Ups, old Exhibits, postcards, scorecards, Cincinnati Reds cards and memorabilia (from 1939-40 in particular), Mothers Cookies, Bell Brands, Kahns (Reds only), Sport Magazine baseball photos from the 1950s and a wide assortment of oddball items pertaining to our National Pastime. I am also hopelessly addicted to playing softball despite my gimpy knees and the fact I can barely throw a ball across the infield anymore ...

I am a CPA specializing in resort development. My major clients include the parent company of PGA West, The La Quinta Resort and Spa, Fazio Design, Lennar Communities of California and several other resorts clubs and golf communities. I am very fortunate since my double-digit handicap does not prevent me from living, traveling and working in some of the most beautiful golf resorts in the world.
I collect Ramlys, T3’s, PCL stuff and T206’s. Not too much 19th century material but I do have some type cards.
I try to set up and share a table at the local Hollywood Park Show in Los Angeles 3 times a year. I have met and enjoyed sharing time with many of the Board members because of this. If you are there in April stop by and say hello...except for Adam

I work for a large insurance broker in NYC and handle marine hull claims. Collector since 1981, although bought packs from 69-75 as a kid. Collected mostly Topps for a long time, then their insert/test issues from the 60's. Have dabbled in various type collecting projects over the years but am mostly going after T Cards and Play Balls now (primarily Dodgers). I am very interested in researching old sets, like hobby history a whole bunch and typing long rambling posts at 3 AM Saturday morning......I am also fascinated with the Brooklyn Dodgers. Favorite team in my lifetime is the Mets though.

Yes, I am mildly biased as I grew up in the 1970's going to Anaheim Stadium to watch the Ryan Express. Hypothetical trivia....how many no-hitters would Ryan have had if he pitched off a higher mound as did Koufax ???
