My wife has been home with the kids for the past 6 years, but plans to go back in the
fall . She is an Orientation and Mobility Specialist.

I am truly honored to be among such esteemed folks. And I like you gamblers, too.

I response to several requests to get involved oin poker with board members, I'll simply use Joe Brennan's brilliant signature:

"A scared man can't gamble and a jealous man can't work."

The first half is the applicable section for me, and Mr. Lyme and limited resources are the cause.

And Joann and Jim thanks for mentioning meteo...it's just as addictive as poker, and shares the uncertainty aspects as well.

Ah, the mortgage. I still have one after two divorces and thirty years of banking. I ended as a Senior Vice President in charge of internal audit of a major Bank Holding Company. Unfortunately I was forced into retirment by the sale of the company to another bank in Cleveland. No wonder I hate the Indians. Now I supplement the retirement check by selling (dare I say on this board) 50s cards of all sports. My only pre-war purchases are for me and my type set fix.

I'm an engineer with Agilent Technologies, formerly part of Hewlett-Packard. 33 years now, and still going. Specialty area is testing of celluar phones. Very technical. A really focused specialty, but a big one.

Martin, maybe I've bought some of your fish. I went to South Nags Head for a week long vacation each year for about 5 years, ending about 5 years ago. And we would go the fish packing company on Wanchese to buy fresh shrimp and tuna. Especially the tuna. $5 per pound, fresh that day. Still one of my best memories from the beach.

I bought a house in Menlo Park, CA (Bay area peninsula) in 1974, cashed it in to trade even for a house in eastern Washington (Spokane area), and paid it off several years ago.

Mortgage? don't need one.

Personal Assistant to a President of a finance company, so I buy stuff (Ferraris, Rolls Royces, diamond watches ect.) and plan trips in places we didn't know exist. Very interesting but a bit crazy at times.

But I'm back in school to be a Elementary School teacher, money makes people get a bit wing-nutty.

I'm an IT consultant specializing and network and systems management, who works for a small company called Callisma (150 people) which is now part of a slightly larger company called ATT, not sure how big they are but my boss went to a meeting of VPs and above - there were 3500 people.

From what I understand, Paypal eliminated transactions with online gambling companies about 2 years ago due to outside pressure.

I'm a copy editor at The Daily News in NYC and The Journal News in Westchester County. Also an amateur poker player - if taking a few hundred of a couple of drunks at my local bar counts. I haven't played online yet as I like the feeling and rush of playing against actual people. Being able to see the other guy's face when you beat his hand is a great feeling - as is the underlying fear of being punched in the face.
Don't have a mortgage because I can't afford one.

Yeah, it's gotten more complicated at every plant since 9/11. I drive through to the gatehouse, my car is searched, and the officer checks my badge. After I park, I walk to the pre-access facility where my badge is scanned and I use the hand geometry thingy (biometrics). Then to the main access facility, where I go through a metal detector and explosives detector, then another badge scanning and hand geometry. Maybe that's why no one leaves site for work And yes, there are plenty of ex-Navy in commercial nuclear.

I invest heavily in collectibles. My age and job situation preclude me from buying a house in my area. Since I never know when I will be in or out of employment, I feel more secure in having liquid assets in case I need to come up with cash that will meet emergency needs.
Luckily I have not encountered such a situation.
My overall investments in my hobbies have risen and gained in value.
