Here's a little bit of everything to kick this month off.
First off is this sweet Roger Maris signed magazine picture inscribed "To Jim, Best Always, Roger Maris" MarisSigned-2.jpg Last night I won this Iconic vintage original photograph of the Hindenburg disaster in 1937. Hindenburg.jpg And more of an upbeat acquisition comes this really cool pair of extremely scarce Beatles items. First up is the only known examples (according to world renown Beatles expert Perry Cox) of these 1966 "The Beatles YEAH YEAH Candy" wrappers. These Wrappers were designed to seal the FREE Hand-Puppet that was packaged along with a box of the Beatles Candy! The Wrappers AND the very tough Ringo Puppet are mine, but at this time I'm without a box. ![]() ![]() BeatlesCandyHandPuppetWrappers.jpgBeatles-Candy-Boxes-1.jpgRingo-Puppet-1.jpg Last edited by thekingofclout; 07-02-2012 at 03:25 AM. |

Hi guys. I'm usually just here looking at other people's pick-ups, mostly because I can't afford the really good stuff. Just recently I stumbled upon serveral Paul Waner type 1 photos on ebay. One of them being a Conlon that was also used for the 1933 Uncle Jacks candy baseball card. The best part is they were $9.99 a piece! Well within my price range. It goes to show that great deals can still be had.

Great Waner pics Ryan.
Now you have to try and find where that Conlon Waner was used in the newspaper. The black oval was probably the backdrop for a smaller picture insert or some other graphic. Given the batting average above his head, I would guess the face of another player in the batting race was inserted there. Who knows, perhaps even a headshot of his brother. Congrats, Mark

Just picked up this early 1980's Mickey Mantle signed and inscribed photo in a lot of vintage sports items. Signed in person in New York City in 1983. There's bound to be a Steve out there who will want it for their collection

I am a small fish concentrating on T206 MLers in PSA 4, SGC 50. I would like to pass along a thank you to Ed Woelfle (Frank Oberlin), Marty Bowen (Dummy Taylor), and Scot Reader (Bill O'Neil) for superior deals that helped me add to my collection.
Respectfully, Dave |

Just added this circa teens/1920 era two-tone, Reach full web baseball glove. Large, soft, and supple, with a pristine interior, and mfg. patch...couldn't be happier.
Don't know how many on this forum are more or less vintage equipment collectors, but, if you are, please feel free to reach out should you have any items you're thinking about selling/trading. You can check out our "inventory" (although the vast majority of the collection are "keepers") on our website... www.dugouttreasures.com The entirety of the collection is now also encompassed in our new book... http://www.dugouttreasures.com/book.cfm |

That said, if you do decide to have it signed, you could always have him sign the inside of the jersey, below the collar, so it doesn't ruin the front of the jersey. Maybe the best way to decide is to look at other signed vintage flannel. Do you like how it looks?

Ryan,
Great group of pictures. I think Terry is very under appreciated. Sweet Reese as well. I didn't know the Reach guides came hardbound either. That is partly why I got them. Mark, That artwork is very nice. Unfortunately there is no Gehrig. Best, Mark Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

I have been after one of these banks for a while. They come on ebay usually 3-4 times a year. I was really thrilled to find one with the original box. The bank itself isn't in the best condition, but I can always upgrade later if the opportunity presents itself.

Great Bank, and a very under-rated piece. Especially with the Box (which appears to be in nice condition!)
Souvenirs like this from Gehrig's playing days are rare. Nice pickup! Last edited by perezfan; 07-12-2012 at 10:56 AM. |

the box is the big reason I went after this one. I've seen the bank itself in better condition, but have never seen the box before. I'm very pleased.

I just added 2 more game used ALEXANDER jerseys to the "Worlds Greatest Alexander Jersey" collection. Both are Redskins jerseys used by Lorenzo Alexander. (Sorry about the blurry picture.) This brings the collection to 76. Also, courtesy of MEARS, I was able to add a Fort Myers Sun Sox and West Palm Beach Tropics jacket to my collection.
As always, I am looking for game used / game worn jerseys with the name ALEXANDER on the back (or any variation of the name) and game used equipment from the Senior League. (aka SPBA, Senior Professional Baseball Association) |

I acquired this figural in a trade with my good friend Mark (perezfan). For those who are not familiar with this piece, it is a match striker (concealed in cap) and was originally mounted on a base. It's about 5 1/4" tall and heavy. Although not complete, I really like it. Thanks Mark.

I don't recall the Dodgers vs Yankees banner before. It's an eye catcher at 25 1/2" tall by 17" wide. The seller tapped it to the backing and shrunk wrapped it....and I'm reluctant to take it out to examine it displays so nice. There seems to be a looped edge at the top which would have likely been for a pole to slide thru I suppose. It's very interesting it's was made after the Dodgers won their league championship but obviously before they went on to sweep the series...so it's a very ephemeral piece that would have been used a very short while before the Series began...I'm out of my element with it since it's so later than I collect. I can see fold lines like it was folded up about 8" x 6"..that's probably why it's in such good shape. It doesn't feel like a commercial piece...that is like something that hung in a magazine stand...more like a souvenir sold at the park.. Below some close in shots http://sportsantiques.com/fohbc_reno_show_7_27_12.htm Actually it wasn't just any bottle show...it was the National Convention of the FOHBC...Federation Of Historical Bottle Collectors....held in Reno NV...I made the 3 hour drive and stayed two days Friday and Saturday..you can see 200 photos I took in the link above (100 up now of Friday, 100 to come of Saturday). I posted photos of the bottle on Antique-Bottles.net which I belong to and it's getting the deserved scrutiny...that community is the net54BaseBall.com of the bottle world...link below to the thread http://www.antique-bottles.net/forum...-536973/tm.htm ![]() shot on location in sellers booth ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
