Hey Jason..You're off to a great start. If 5% of the 1800+ viewers (so far) show up, you've got 90 people through the doors already.... If you combine that with a burger eating contest, you might get 200 people through the doors...Let me call Joey CHestnut and see what he charges for appearance fees

Default Calif. Card show!!!

Pepis: Yes Phil is from Frank and Sons. You might have saw him recently on Storage wars. He was appraising a newspaper of Elvis's passing, and a newspaper from the first World Series.

I cannot wait...will certainly be there...I miss the old card shows of the '80s with tables set up specifically for trading and a variety of dealers.

No food contests! In fact, we were talking on the ride home from Anaheim and thought there was no need for announcements of any kind nor any music. I'm enjoying a great hobby conversation and I get bombarded with, "Steve Garvey still signing!" for the 10th time. If you're on the show floor all day, that stuff can get tiring very quickly.

There will, however, be a wet t-shirt contest

For any of you planning to attend the show, there's an In 'N Out approximately 1 mile or so away from the location--East on Venice Blvd.

Michael, that In and Out is 3 blocks from my studio at Helms, that is what I was basing my blasphemy on.
Keep heading west on Culver til you hit the beach and you'll see The Shack.

Mark, the sausage eating contest at the show last week was a new low. The funny part was the guy was walking about giving away the leftover sausages and he grabbed one in the tongs and put it directly in Adam's hands- it was so hot it almost seared off his fingerprints. Never seen him move so fast!

Josh, great finally meeting you last weekend, look forward to seeing you in May.

Can't believe it...just took a part time job (after being retired 5 years) with the P. O. working Saturdays to feed the Monster!! hmmmm..maybe I can call in sick or finagle some training in L A...Or my 6th grandma died... A Saturday show sounds fantastic. Maybe talk one of my twin boys to come along, like 1981....

Just the excess stuff I've sent to an auctioneer over the last year could fill a table easily and I'm sure I am not unique in that respect. My hope is that a table fee of under $100 and a one-day time commitment will convince those guys to come out and give it a shot. So, anyone reading who is SoCal local, mark May 18th and think about taking a table. Bring out your doubles, your triples and your stuff that no one would possibly want--you might be surprised.

We will have table contracts and a table selection sheet ready in a week or two.

Hello, my name is Michael. I just signed up for this site and saw this thread on SoCal card shows. I may be interested in getting a table at the Culver City show. Need to get rid of some excess cardboard and make some room.

I also saw a comment that someone posted about starting a card club. I am also interested in that as a way to maybe get some face to face trades going. Those are the type of trades from my childhood.

Thanks!

Hey Michael - welcome to the site. Would love to have you at the show. Give me a shout through the link on the site below and I'll hit you back by email or phone. We've got a dealer agreement now and below is a show layout. We need to do a more detailed scout to make sure this will work as planned but is pretty close. The entrance is located down the aisle between tables 7 and 8. All tables are 8 foot tables. Let us know if you have any questions.

One thought is to have this first show and have a signup list for anyone wanting to participate in the card club. Then we can start an email thread or chain and post the next meetup on the socalcollectors site. Monthly or bi-monthly, maybe?

Default I learned with IN and Out burgers

To order the fries crispy. Otherwise, those are terrible. The burgers are uniformly good.
