Great pickups guys.
I added a few pieces to my Eagles collection recently. The first is an early Philadelphia Eagles gamer, being worn by Ernie Steele during the 1946 to 1948 era. Shows fantastic use, with huge team repairs. The next piece is an Eagles oddball piece: its a Johnny Hero doll in its original box dressed in a Philadelphia Eagles uniform. ![]() ![]() |

Kjjavic,
I just wanted to comment that I am by no means even close to liking the Eagles(Steelers fan), I really love seeing your collection, it is awesome. Special Kudos on your sports room. ![]() |

The following three Indians postcards, circa 1954 (the calendar in the second PC shows August of that year), are interesting to me. Though I'm not a fanatical collector of team-issued Tribe PCs from that era, I will pick up ones that interest me. The backs of these are identical to those of the team-issued variety, but I don't think they fall into that category. I've solicited opinions from a couple veteran postcard collectors I know, but we've been unable to reach a consensus. I'm still trying to figure out the identity of the guy in the suit. I have ruled out Joe Jackson.

I just got this today. It's a 1973 TCMA postcard signed by all three DiMaggios with full JSA. I'm hoping to frame it with my trio of DiMaggio '41 Play Ball cards.

I picked this up yesterday. It's a box of Kellogg's cereal from 1972. It has a picture of Lefty's 1972 Kellogg's All-Time Greats card right on the back. I know this is not vintage, but I thought some of you might enjoy seeing this. I had never seen anything like it before.

Brad, that's an awesome box...I moonlight as a cereal box collector...that's definitely "vintage" to me.
![]() Rob, I wonder if the guy in your postcards is a Cleveland Radio/TV guy? Was it an ebay buy? Perhaps the former owner has a clue?

Thanks for all the great comments on the Kellogg's box. I don't know when the Danish Go-Rounds went off the shelf, but I have never had any. You guys make it sound like I missed something special.
It's interesting to note that the Copyright date on the box is 1971, yet the Copyright date on the back of the cards is 1972.

I picked up a couple of cool vintage snapshots of early no-hit pitchers tonight.
The first snapshot is of the Indians Ray "Slim" Caldwell that threw a no-hitter against the NY Yankees in 1919. The second snapshot is of Thomas L. Hughes (Long Tom) of the circa 1906 NY Highlanders that threw 9 innings of perfection in the 1st game of a doubleheader in 1910 before finally giving up a single in the 10th inning. Hughes ended up allowing 6 more hits and ended up losing the game 5-0 to the Cleveland Naps. I actually own the only known ticket extant to this game in my collection. Long Tom ended up changing leagues and threw a no-hitter against the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1916 while he was a member of the Boston Braves. |

Found this at the antique store this morning...never seen one before, and I've seen A LOT of Husker collectibles in my time.
![]() Also picked up this ad card at an auction yesterday...it shows a shot of the stadium at Capital Beach which is where Lincoln played their Sunday games because it was illegal to play in town on Sundays...as far as I know this is the only known view of the Capital Beach baseball stadium. ![]() ![]()

Capital Beach (now known as CapitOl Beach) was really something back in the day...there was an amusement park with a huge rollercoaster, an enormous wading pool and tons of other stuff to do there...it closed about 1960.

Nice work Scooter.
Using the boxscore, it appears that in the scorecard the shortstop is labeled "s" and the catcher is "h" for possibly "home." Another thing to notice is that there were 18 runs scored on 28 total hits...Time of Game 2hours!!!! How long would this game be now? Very cool item. Congrats.

I think it's because TV timeouts between innings were much shorter in 1882. Plus, since there were "many ladies" in attendance, maybe the players kept the game moving along to keep a dinner date.

Scott - "Long Tom" Hughes was a member of NY AL only in 1904. "Salida Tom" Hughes (Thomas L. Hughes) pitched for them in 1906 and 1909-1910. Last edited by bmarlowe1; 03-22-2011 at 04:34 PM. |

I've been working almost entirely on the 61 Yankees over the past month, and have been able to pick up 11 additional autographs including trainer Gus Mauch on an Oct 1950 GPC. The great thing about that team is that all members are very attainable with co-owner Del Webb probably being the hardest.

Picked up two game used jerseys. The first is from the 1984 Wichita Aeros club. I have to do some research to find out who #14 was. I'm hoping Eric Davis. The second is a 1978 Pittsburgh Pirate jersey known as the bumble bee style for obvious reason. It was worn by Jerry Reuss.
