How Many Vintage collectors Sprinkle in Some Pujols?

There are two modern cards (post 1971) in my collection today.

1. 1989 Upper Deck Griffey AUTO

2. 2001 Upper Deck SPX Albert Pujols

Although I dont collect modern cards, I am still on the look out for a couple more Pujols rookies outside the Bowman Chrome. I like other members would rather spend 3K on something else, but dont have a problem spending $500-$750 to acquire a couple more Pujols RC's. I have very little concern that he is on a the juice. Im my opinion its a shame that we most likely are watching one of the greatest players of all time, play out his carreer in front of us and we have to question whether the stats he's generating are real or enhanced. Pujols is a great human being and a true pleasure to watch on the ball field.

Like the few Floridians Basketball Cards given away only at Miami McDonald's with a meal, for only a few weeks(early 1970's). Not a preconceived rare item.

I just got another 2004 Topps Heritage Chrome card of Albert Pujols in the mail. The cards are serial numbered, 0001 through 1955. This most recent card brings my total to 29, which would be 1.4% of those made.

When I saw this thread a while back, it reminded me of the Pujols cards I'd accumulated. I got a few more. And the pile reminds me of a fine thread we had a while back about "Koteles Collecting", that thread is in the Archives.

Maybe I'll pick up a few more, either to get to an even 30, or to the 2% mark.

Being from St. Louis, every time I see Albert crush a home run, it crosses my mind that he could be juicing. I really don't think he is, but if it comes out one day that he is or was on the juice, I wouldn't be totally shocked.

In my mind, there is only one person who put up serious numbers since the mid 80s that I would bet anything that he never used PEDs....Ken Griffey Jr.

MLB just started testing for steroids. It is known that anabolic steroids were introduced into the sporting arena around the 1940s. I think players have been looking for an "edge" since before 2000.

I collect vintage, but my five year old son is collecting modern (and focusing on Chase Utley). I had good vibes about Pujols awhile back and loaded up on a lot of his cards, everything from commons to graphs, game used, rookies, etc.

He and chase Utley are the two modern cards I collect.

HOWEVER, I do crack open some modern boxes because since I was a kid, I did autograph collecting through the mail and still do. I use the modern cards for that side of my hobby.

The modern side of the hobby is a huge part of my collection. I have an Adam LaRoche player collection, which (along with my prewar collections) can be found at www.adamlarochecollector.com. I take equal enjoyment adding an N172 as I do adding a Red Refractor numbered to 5.

this made me laugh...an adam laroche fan! from his on-field demeanor he seems like a surly and hard-ass dude. i like his brother andy, easily one of my top 10 favorite baseball players.


p.s. yea, yawn if news break that pujols is on HGH or really 2-3 years older.

Pujols birthday is listed: 1/16/80. Is it just me or does he look a little older than 30? I would be willing to bet that like Furcal he is one or two years older than that.
