I like that you can see the person-ids you are bidding with and who the winner is unlike ebay where it is anonymous, that is if you know your ids. If I can't tell who you are as a seller I probably won't bid.

Adam had the suggestion of starting the bidding at the absolute minimum
acceptable amount so as not to waste time and avoid a card that has bids on it from being pulled and causing a debate. That seems like a very good idea.

What's to keep all the sales from going to the auction section? This could end up being alot of high minimum bid auctions, is there going to be a no bump rule by the auction starter? This will at least keep the active auctions to the top and encourage lower starting bids.

Lee's observation about low starting price allows for bids that continually bump the item as bids are made.
I see that an auction with a high reserve could just be a glorified sale... I'd like to see as few restrictions as possible (and since Leon hails from Texas I think that's how it will be). After all, the owner / seller has the card, he should be able to set forth how he'll be selling his card. Any of you guys want folks here to tell you how you may and may not sell a card?? My auction of the Frank Isbell T206 has successfully concluded. 5 stars, nay 6 stars to Ed Woelfle. The auction closed at 10am CDT June 6, 2009. I had to wait 10 minutes for payment via Paypal (no, I didn't tack on a fee for him using that). I prepared an envelope, filled out a Deliv Conf receipt, and drove the package to the Post Office. Isbell was in the mail on his way to Ed by 10:50am, BEFORE window service closed. And Ed was notified via email of the Deliv Conf # by 11:05... 65 minutes. I'll defer to RobD and let him advise everyone as to whether I'm about to do another auction on Net54, and if so when. |

Golly, no need to defer to me, Frank. You do a fine job keeping everyone informed about your intentions and the day-to-day operations of your auctions.

In a Utopian world (and my preference) there would be exactly "0" rules set by the house. I guess I would probably say, if I were a participant and had to say 1 thing....it would be only to allow each member to have one current, ongoing auction at a time. That would be common courtesy (not aimed at you Jon, as you are one of the most courteous folks on the board) in my humble opinion. Otherwise someone could literally start 50 raw T206's individually at the same time. This board is not set up for that nor will it be.
That being said...... Lets shoot for 0 rules "from above" and see how that goes? Last edited by Leon; 06-06-2009 at 10:42 AM. Reason: typo |

Rob, I hope you never get into legal trouble in Kentucky.

Dan, Jim:
If you're correct, it would come as little surprise to me. In fact, the lady at AAA was puzzled why I wanted to plan a trip from Ohio to Tennessee by way of West Virginia, Virginia and North Carolina. |

RobD,
I have to ask, do you know for a fact that I do a good job about keeping everyone posted about my auctions, or is that merely your opinion??? (For those that don't recall, I learned that inquiry from RobD.) And if you answer, are you answering for those that used to post here but now either don't or seldom do because of the comments and posts of yours? Or are those folks you've chased away excluded from your answer? Cockfighting is generally found to the east and the south of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Maybe you could just give it a break for a while... |

I based that statement on what I've read in your posts on the board. So, no, it's not my opinion. It's what I've seen in black and white. Edited to add that the cockfighting references weren't mine. Last edited by Rob D.; 06-06-2009 at 01:11 PM. |

No Sir, RobD,
Merely you being informed from reading a post of mine in black and white is non-responsive as to whether whether I'm doing a good job informing others, that only lets me know as to whether you know. So again, do you know that I'm doing a good job for the others, or is that merely your opinion? And do you include in those others the folks that you've chased away? You need more than a nap. Golly, Frank, I'm surprised at you.
Tell you what, it's too nice of a day to waste getting into a peeing match with you. You go ahead and get the last word in, which will make you feel good and will prevent me from possibly chasing even more folks away. Have at it. |

Only 24 hours or so in existence, and already 12 live auctions. Pretty darn good if you ask me.

I think the BST auctions are going to be a good thing going forward. With eBay getting stupider and less wonderful by the day, thanks to silly rules and ratings and whatever they are smoking at HQ, the timing on this is good.
Leon, just as a guide, how many members does the forum have? This should give some idea of the potential universe of bidders. Did you mention about 1,100 a couple of weeks ago? |

Many of those 1351 members are trolls that are immediately banned. For some stupid reason there are people who write scripts to register on Vbulletin chat boards (such as this one) for no apparent reason..Those go straight into a banned folder, which I manually do.....There are just about 1000 good, registered members today...
