Off topic - but, Al - what did you use as a backer on that? It doesn’t look like foam?
Rob, that Lefty O’Doul variation goes to the top of my wantlist. It’s been awhile since I’ve seen one; yours is beautiful ![]() Last edited by ASpaceman; 01-10-2021 at 05:43 AM. |

No its not foam ,to thick to fit in the 25 count snap case. I found that if you just use a thin piece of cardboard cut to size stick the pin thru it it works well. I find the white cardboard the the comic book backer boards uses works well! Makes it look better.....

Thanks, much Al - I appreciate the response.
I 'made'/cut foam inserts for my 2.5" pins and smaller. Bought cases for my 3"+, and am looking for some other options. I'm assuming you use comic backers on those too? Anyone have an alternative they use? |

Hi Aaron,
Years ago I used to attend the political collector shows. Tom French displayed literally hundreds of buttons in foam backed holders that he sells on his website. They looked really great on display. Here's his link with a tab on the front page to click on. https://usamericana.com/ |

Hi Aaron,
Just a little heads up about some negatives. The holders that seem to be perfect for 3 1/2" pins are actually too tight. with the foam and the limited area side to side, you kind of end up "forcing" the lid down. Maybe he has a larger size that may work better. Also, because the lid actually touches the buttons, I wouldn't recommend these for litho's only celluloid. I didn't want the lids directly on the litho paint. It's probably not as much of an issue with the smaller lithos because the lids barely touch. Anyway, I should have taken a picture of his display back in the day because it was the nicest in the room. Last edited by andypcl; 01-12-2021 at 09:38 AM. |

Trying to complete this set, still missing Jim Gosger, Mack Jones, Coco Laboy, Dan McGinn and Claude Raymond, if you know of any....

Hi Guy,
I don't know why he's on my want list but I always thought there was a Gene Mauch in this 69' set as there is in the 70' set. I don't know why it's on there but just wondering if you're pretty sure he's not included? I only need 2 from the 70's set. Last edited by andypcl; 01-12-2021 at 02:15 PM. |

I gotta say, I have never quite understood that red, white and blue Expos logo. Can anyone explain what the designer was “going for”? Maybe you have to be French to understand.....

Who even remembers Expo '67 anyway? Professional teams really should not be named after temporary events. I am probably biased because as a kid, I was as much a Tony Perez fan as I was a Reds fan. When they traded Perez to Montreal after the 1976 season, it was a tough pill to swallow. I could not stand seeing him go from the Reds' classy and timeless uniforms to those goofy looking threads that the Expos called a uniform. Dumb logo and dumber name. Just my dumb opinion. ![]() Last edited by perezfan; 01-19-2021 at 10:25 AM. |

Rob, I assume that is the 1.75 inch version as I’ve never seen that one at 1.25.

HOF Ed Walsh 1910-1912 Sweet Corporal pinback
Knot Hole Gang pinback to accompany my 1938 Cincinnati Reds Knot Hole pass in my Vandy showcase. Vandy's 1st of two consecutive no-hitters on 6/11/1938 was a Knot Hole Day game attended by perhaps 4,000-5,000 lucky kids in addition to 5,814 paid that attended this game against the Boston Bee's. I managed to pick this 1928 PM6 of Grover Alexander yesterday.
I've found some details on prewar cards I've not been able to find any other sales of the pins. If anyone has any other background or info about values, please let me know. Thanks.

Terrific acquisition! PM6s used to be around some, usually undervalued as so little was known about the issue. Many have major rust problems for some reason, some almost like they were sitting in water or some other liquid for a while. Scarce now, I think the initial find(s) has been pretty much collected up. Not sure there were any commons in the set (of 10, maybe?), all major stars of the 1920s. I don't have Muchinsky's book, I'd like to see what he says about them.
