It will look better if you trim off the hanging/loose portion, and get it to resemble a point at the end. This one is actually a good candidate for that, as you can easily envision the end product with a better (albeit not perfect) tip. Many examples are not conducive to trimming.
Take it a little at a time, as you don't want to be too hasty. Nothing wrong with doing that, as long as you disclose it, when it comes time to sell. Pennant collectors typically do not want altered items... So you'd be doing this simply to approve its appearance and please yourself. Altering it for resale (without proper disclosure) borders on sleazy seller territory, IMO. Great pennant... A classic! As for politically incorrect, I'd still put some of those Big Nose Wahoo Indians Pennants and Screaming Braves wielding a Tomahawk ahead of it. Last edited by perezfan; 02-26-2016 at 12:24 PM. |

Thanks for the tip on the tips. I was actually afraid to snip the tip, but since I didn't buy it to flip, I might give it a rip - just a little clip. |

For a couple of pennants with a little of the tip missing, I've taken a small clip with sharp scissors in the shape resembling the tip from the back of the main portion of the pennant BEHIND the strip on the left side. If the strip goes all the way to the edge, you can't tell anything is missing (from the front). Then take some strong tape, cut on one end in the shape of the new tip, and long enough to adhere to the back of the pennant, and attach the faux tip.

Any ideas as to what this Cubs is worth? I have a chance to buy it, but at a very high price. I don't see it in the Egner price guide.
Thanks! Lou P.S. We just picked up over 200 nice vintage pennants (30's through 60's mostly baseball & football) and we're going to look at more this weekend. Hopefully we'll be getting some nice stuff. |

I would say that pennant is in the $200-250 range. It is a difficult pennant, but a 40's - early 50's version. Hope this helps. Jason |

Mark. Wonderful amazing collection. Thanks for taking the time to post. One after another after another...tough ones and great looking too. I typically love the oversized ca. 1910s but that Indians pennant w the dancing Indian made me stop and stare. Wow.
And Ricardoh, all beauties too. How many of those 1912 Champions pennants are known. My favorite thread, thanks guys. |

Rick,
Why don't you think they made these for the first Super Bowl? I know the super bowl wasn't really "super" in the first couple years, but you'd think there would be more pennants around. Jason |

I think the first Super Bowl was considered too much of an 'exhibition' than it was soon being thought of. That is why the game attendance was so small. The vendors didn't jump on board in time, clearly. After the game, it became clear how important an event it was and by the next year it was obviously going to become a yearly contest and with obvious importance. By then, the vendors were going full force. Before the first game I think very few understood how important it was going to become. Last edited by ricardoh; 04-29-2016 at 01:28 PM. |

8 inch mini pennants from the 30s, each team came in various colors, but these are very scare and hard to find. also a full set of Keezer patches, also difficult to run across.

Wow, those are some rarely seen logos on those mini-pennants. Really love the quirkiness and "off colors". Especially like the Reds Mascot... Is that a Policeman holding a Beer Stein? Must admit I've never even seen most of those.
