So back last August I purchased my first box of basketball cards which was a 10-11 National Treasures box. Box was $400.00 it was a very nice box and for the price was hoping on getting some big hits. I received a Kevin Durant Auto card which sold for about 250.00 very nice.
Well....I had also received a Jeremy Lin Auto/Jersey Rookie card which I sold on Ebay last Sept for a grand total of $36.00. I want to shoot myself in the head right about now.... who would have thought? Ever sold a card of a player in any sport you wished you could take back?

You shouldn't feel too bad, because nobody could have predicted the story of Jeremy Lin, not even Jeremy himself.

Don't feel bad. It will be back to $36 before too long.
I remember when a guy had to sell quick and sold me few unopened 1979-80 Topps basketball packs for cheap that he had had for a long time. I later open them and the first one had a mint Bird/Magic Rookie on top. He later asked if I got anything good and I prudently said "No." I can testify on his behalf that he didn't search and reseal his packs. Last edited by drc; 02-16-2012 at 12:57 AM. |

Back before the Jordan Rookie card really took off I traveled a lot in the Northeast for shows.
One weekend I did a Show in New Hampshire on Saturday and Massachusetts on Sunday. While in New Hampshire I traded a bunch of 60's Football Washington Redskins cards to a dealer and in exchange he let me go through a large box of 1986 Fleer Basketball Cards he had no interest in and let me take what I wanted. I pulled at least a half dozen Jordan Rookies along with a bunch of the other key Rookie Cards. When I got the the Mass. show I threw out the Jordans in my case and sold them almost immediately for 20 bucks apiece. I was happy at the time........but it didn't take long for it to dawn on me what a stupid thing I had done. |

How would you like to be the guy who probably bought Jeremy Lin's first Knick jersey probably for a couple of hundred bucks last month, and just sold it yesterday on eBay for FORTY THOUSAND DOLLARS?!?!

A huge boost for the NBA and basketball card market which has been pretty numb since the Lebron, Wade, Carmello RC craze of years ago. Really sucks you sold the card but cool you bought a box and can see modern stuff is still relavant. No matter how much you hate the modern stuff, nothing beats busting a box of wax, or should I say package sealed plastic but it's all good. But $400 a box lol it's not Trix just for kids !!
