I have 2 guesses, more facetious than anything...
a) two collectors thought this was a red portrait, and paid a premium thinking it was a rare, orange color variation (obviously not the case). and b) Probstein has a following.  (on a serious note, the corners are quite nice for and SGC graded EX 5, but still that is a high price)
