That mark is from a scratch on the plate or stone. One of those marks that will be found only on one position on the sheet.
The one shown has probably been corrected since it ends abruptly at the right edge of the printed area. It likely extended further, and was reapired in the border area with a limestone crayon used for fixing that sort of problem. What would be interesting to see would be a different card withthe same mark, or either a different card or Plank with the uncorrected scratch. Steve B |
