I would say
that the price is related to Dugey being a Philadelphia National player.
I can point out a dozen or so auctions this year of Phillies pre-war items that brought absolutely insane prices. From the two Broadleafs auctioned by Goodwin earlier this year, to a team PC in another auction outlet, there have been some phenomenally head-scratching prices on some pre-war Phillies. FWIW -- I was the third bidder on this Dugey card, but clearly was blown away. M
