As the University of Florida (Gainesville) puts more online,
I get to find out more and more about Howe, and maybe how his collection got so large.
Seems his father was a business partner in a grocery store, where the family also lived. From all accounts, Howe never attended school, so I'm guessing he was at the grocery store all day every day, and probably was able to get the cards from customers who weren't interested in keeping them. Even found out his name is the last name of his father's business partner.
