I am so glad I started this thread! What great cards and plus anybody can play! Even the richest dude on here has a beater as well as those of us that love cards, but have modest incomes. Keep them coming! I would be proud to own any of the cards shown.

Welcome to the board! The term "rare" (or "super rare") is thrown around a little too liberally. Hang around the board for awhile, search through the old threads, and you'll find that cards that you once thought were rare, such as the 1952 Topps Mantle, the T206 Wagner, etc. are not really rare at all. They're just in high demand.

Indeed I am noticing that, but I was thinking maybe I was wrong, I usually judge by ebay, if something is a royal pain to find, I usually consider that rare. I am lucky to have found a beat up 54 bowman Williams ungraded for close to book value, sometimes my biggest problem is not finding a card but finding it in crappy enough condition so I can afford it. I would rather have 6 beaters of different legends rather than have 1 superb condition one. I do agree the 52 Mantle does not seem like it's rare at all, I think my Eddie Mathews rookie is more scarce or even my Hoyt Wilhelm Rookie. Thanks to ebay and other online sites cards are alot easier to find even lower condition. I gave up collecting in the mid 90s because of high priced card shops.

Here's another one of my favorite beaters, has a great back for the condition.

These are all long-gone, but then they were long-gone when I had them:
