Lost in the excitement of the final night's games was one played the night before last between the Dodgers and Diamondbacks. Because it ended late there wasn't too much talk about it on the east coast, but it had one of the most extraordinary endings I've ever seen. Arizona already clinched but they were still fighting for home field.
The game was tied 1-1 after 9 innings, and then the Dodgers scored five runs in the top of the 10th to go ahead 6-1. And they retired the first two Arizona hitters in the bottom of the inning, so there were two outs, nobody on, five run lead. The next five Diamondbacks proceeded to reach base, and the sixth hit a grand slam to win the game 7-6!! Now that's truly amazing. |
