Could have been skewed toward regional sales, more sales in NY area, then Chicago.
Also, look at the standings; that great 1908 race really sparked interest in baseball... 1908: Cubs Giants Pirates, all within a game of each other. 1909: Pirates Cubs Giants 1910: Cubs Giants Pirates 1911: Giants Cubs Pirates... is anyone else in the league? Detroit finished 1st, 1st, 3rd, and 2nd those 4 seasons. I think regional sales, population, and success are factors. |
