Thank you Anthony. Any idea if these were printed in one series? Based on the # of cards in the set I would guess so. I'm debating whether to put together a whole set or just pick up the stars/HOF'rs. Love the look of these cards.

Neat set and doable in decent condition. On the penny packs the player can easily be identified within an unopened pack.
I have an uncut Topps proof sheet with edit notations on it I bought from Topps Vault that has 44 of the cards on it |

I think they were released in one series, but there are definitely short prints within the set.
Al, assume you have the regular sheet, not the sp sheet? |

Anthony---I have the above described sheet and the set but confess I do not know which cards were short printed. Do you have any idea which players were SPs? If so I can check to see if any are on mine. Mantle is on my sheet

I'm pretty sure they were printed in one series. Topps printed 1960's and 70's cards 264 cards per sheet, here is one half of that sheet, the more commmonly seen 132 card sheet. I'm fairly certain the other half would be identical to these half sheet.
Rows 1 thru 4 are reprinted in rows 9 thru 12. Row 5 is also reprinted in row 8 but upside down, therefore rows 6 and 7 have to be the sp's, includes Billy Williams, Drysdale, Yaz and Willie McCovey off the top of my head. 55 cards printed twice = 110, 22 cards printed once = 22, total = 132 That's it for today's lesson, John ![]() Last edited by jmoran19; 08-09-2011 at 06:03 PM. |

Short Printed cards are:
Jack Baldschun Norm Cash Donn Clendenon Ray Culp Don Drysdale Jesse Gonder Tony Gonzalez Frank Howard Don Lock Jerry Lumpe Juan Marichal Ed Matthews Willie McCovey Albie Pearson Ed roebuck Ron Santo Warren Sphan Dick Stuart Bill White Billy Williams Hal Woodeshick Yaz Topps made some odd selections of what player to have in the set given it's size. I can't believe they expected the likes of Jerry Lumpe and Don Lock to excite the kids back in the day. It's names like those that make me lean towards just getting the star cards insted of the whole set! ![]() |
