I think Ruth would be the obvious #1 in Yankees history. He brought them their first title in 1923, and for that one, he didn't much help then either. I would say, IMHO, that that the greatest Yankees are:

(1) Babe Ruth
(2) Mickey Mantle
(3) Lou Gehrig
(4) Joe Dimaggio
(5) Yogi Berra
(6) Derek Jeter
