In 1933, at age 26 and in ...
his FIRST year as player-manager (he played 152 games at shortstop, batted .309, and led the A.L. in doubles), Joseph Edward Cronin led the Washington Senators to their last A.L. Championship. It don't get much moh betta than this! Although Cronin batted .318 in the World Series, the N.Y. Giants prevailed.
Cronin later managed the Red Sox for several years, leading them to the A.L. Championship in 1946, and subsequently served as President of the A.L. for a number of years. Val
