his FIRST year as player-manager (he played 143 games at 2nd base), led the Washington Senators to their ONLY World Series Championship. Stanley Raymond "Bucky" Harris even hit 2 home runs in the 1924 World Series (he had only 2 HRs out of his 1,297 regular-season hits during his entire major league playing career)! It don't get no moh betta than this!!
Bucky's Senators repeated as A.L. Champions in 1925, but unfortunately lost the World Series to the Pirates in 7 games. However, he did win a second World Series Championship when he piloted the N.Y. Yankees to to victory in 1947. Val |
