I just won a lot of 125 of the Eddie Plank versions of that set, where
it states that the Plank is worth $10,000.00 My cost .99 cents on the lot + a couple of bucks shipping. I plan to gave them away when I take friends to Gettysburg and check out Plank's hangouts & grave site. |

He originally had it listed as a T209 so it showed up in one of my regular searches. Our correspondence follows:

Well I for one believe him! It HAS to be real, he even shows a photo of the baseball card album he got it in. I'm guessing the album survived 11 world wars as well.

It's also good to know that there won't be any "fuzzy/snowy frames".

saw this and actually sent a message as well. I wasn't sure if it was someone who had no clue or a joke. I tried to be polite and just inform them that it wasn't authentic. I've actually got the exact same reprint myself. I'm sure someone knows where this comes from, but I think it was from some pack in the early 90s

Guys, how are you all overlooking the fact that this generous soul is going to donate some proceeds to Japan and to help the world's economy? I think we should be thanking this fine fellow!

Hmmmm. Optimism with the hope that any potential purchaser hasn't seen an optometrist.

[BI believe those were from the late 80's-early 90's. If I remember correctly they were part of the beginner's packs for collectors. The ones with about 50 or so commons/semi-stars, a few of these reprints that generally discussed values on the back to make kids think they're gonna make a bunch of money in the hobby(I'm pretty sure the Goudey Lajoie was one of 'em as well), a cheap binder and a few pages, amongst other collector related material...
][/B] I believe it was a boxed beginners kit put out by Hygrade.

Just wondering: has anyone ever bought an item of any kind on ebay in which the seller mentioned God, which wasn't a reprint, fake or scam?

Unrelated to the auction listing itself but something I found just as entertaining, check out the buyer's ID on the only feedback the seller has received, as a seller. I take it that account wasn't hacked very often.

I'd like to think that they're just deluded rather than trying to pull a scam. Unlike the people who rough up a reprint, and list it as a reprint trying to fool people into thinking they're selling a real item without knowing it is real. Then again, you get people trying to rip off people who are trying to rip off other people.

Excessive shipping. The 99 cents is fine, but the $50,000 for shipping is a tad steep.

Back in the 90's, there was a kid at my High School that was buying people's souls for a quarter a piece(not mine). The guy also wore a cape to school everyday, rather than a coat. Anyways, I think by the end of senior year, he may have had 50 or so contracts similar to this. He ended up selling 'em to a teacher that was leaving for another school at the end of the year. I don't know how much he got for 'em though, so I'm not really sure what the going rate for a soul is nowadays.... Gotta love Catholic Schools.
