Leon, question - it is currently 10:49 ET, yet as seen here, the auction says there is only 1 hour 38 minutes remaining. But the auction says it is going until 5:26 PM.

Can you explain why there would be such a discrepancy?

I am not sure why the discrepancy.....I will check into it but the countdown clock is probably when it will close. This might be the first auction where I will actually have to make some sort of decision. I am a bit busy with my real job right now but will try to find out about this. Again, I would imagine the count down clock is when it will close....regards

Due to the timing issue with the clock in the auction I am going to make a last minute rule change. You can now edit (still only 1 time total) or make an initial guess until there are 3 minutes left in the countdown clock in the auction. We are looking into the clock issue. I don't know how else I can do it. Also, depending on the outcome we might be doing another auction very soon after this one.....Sorry for any inconvenience this might cause. regards

Less than a minute to go. Why is it ending so much earlier than is stated on the auction?

Matt, who did a lot of the code on the GSB site (and has a real day job now) said in an email, a little while ago-

"due to a recent software update, a bug was introduced which causes the count-down clock to display the wrong time"

Matt said he needs to go into the code to fix it, which he will do asap.


So, I apologize for the issue. The winner of the cards on the site is still the winner of the cards and at the final realized price. Whomever guessed closest is going to be declared the winner of the nice E96. Once the code is fixed I will have another contest and we will give it another try. This is the best way I know how to do it. Again, my apologies for the issue, thanks to everyone that guessed and congrats to the winners. I will figure out who won today and send a PM to them for me to get the address to send out the E96. regards

In case anyone wants the technical details, a PHP upgrade that our hosting company ran on the server a few days ago caused the php.ini to be updated with the wrong timezone. The result was that even though the server time was correct, the countdown clock was accurate and the auction ended exactly 7 days after it started, the part of the listing that was a static statement about when the auction was to end added 5 hours to the time, which caused the confusion. The issue has since been corrected.
