A qualifier is a qualifier is a qualifier IMO.
There shouldn't be any option to downgrade in order to remove a qualifier. I thought one of the main purposes of the grading card companies was to help quell doubt of dealers self-grading their cards when you buy something sight unseen. Off-centering is a big aesthetic pet peeve to a lot of people. Front as well as back of a card. I don't deal much in graded cards but I'd rather have a nice clean 5, rather then a way off-center 7 or 8. Not pre-war (or baseball), but I was recently burned when I upgraded my 1960T Jim Brown. Was a PSA 7. Saw the front when I bought it (was about 65/35 or so, which is acceptable to me), but when I got it in, I flipped to the back and the whole left side of the border was missing. |
