If you've got the money to buy top shelf items you should really invest in a climate control system. The ideal conditions are between 65-70 degrees fahrenheit with relative humidity around 55%, year round. Use incandescent or low watt halogen for your lighting and rotate your display items in and out of storage so they aren't exposed all the time.
If you're on a modest budget, an AC unit combined with a dehumidifier for the summer, and a humidifier for the winter are all cheap fixes. You can buy a thermometer and hygrometer pretty cheap. Pull the blinds and keep the lights low. Simple things like pushing your displays deep into a book case will help shield it from a ceiling fixture, etc. |
